(5.1) Scanopgraphs
I really enjoyed making these eBooks the second time around, and I think these are series that I would love to be able to print. I've noticed that I've been playing with narrative a lot without even realizing that the section we're exploring is based on story telling. I think because I was aware of the constraints of the program, I was able to be like I had more control of what I wanted to create. Usually I would manipulate the images from my scanner through photo editing software, but I really wanted to explore the idea of my scan being the final product, and I believe it was really successful. One of my personal objectives is to use digital technology and incorporate "traditional"/ hands on methods. I never considered my scanner to be an art tool or "new media" so I was surprised at how quickly I got carried away with using it as an art tool. Scanography is something I will continue to explore in my own personal work.
One thing I would like to note is that my first series is influenced by Jean Arp and his collages titled Untitled but arranged according to the Law of Chance. The second series is influenced by Eva's powerpoint and how she brought in memorabilia for us to work with and how the artist she showed with the Cha Cha images created a dance/narrative through repeating images.
