(5.2) Potential of Scaopgraphy

Scanography as an art form is important because it’s a highly accessible medium with a multitude of potential uses. It’s not only limited to documents, but now you can create art work with personal meaning, narratives, and can create images with deep conceptual meaning or create movies. The possibilities seem endless. Also.l, if you have a scanner, you most likely have access to the internet or a computer. It can meld traditional mediums and methods with digital technologies. For example, being a painter I often find myself wanting to play with color choices and placement of shapes, now o can create that artwork and scan it on a computer where I can digitally edit it and add to it. It doesn’t stop there, however. I have a digital copy of my work so I can freely manipulate my canvas without worrying about ruining my work.  I have a backup copy, and my work can take on multiple transformations whether it be in the form of working through scanopgraphy processes or ripping my canvas to change the composition and meaning—this is something I will personally be attempting with my own work. I’m my eBooks, I even mention how creating these scans were like a form of therapy for me. I think the act of freely changing the canvas allowed me to feel this way.  I was able to work through an idea in quick succession allowing for my story to come out more freely.
