(10.2) Documentation of Process
It all starts with your idea. I began with thinking about larger concepts like relationships, love, food, etc. Then I narrowed it down to what specifically about that concept I wanted to convey and started thinking about what materials around my house could I repurpose. So I decided to think about dealing with depression in relationships. I wanted to get across the idea that someone with depression will isolate themselves and kind of keep doing exponentially. I also wanted to highlight the fact that it's important for the people in their lives to be patient with them and how its important to have someone to pull you back from that isolation.
Because it was just me it was important to have figures that could stand on their own so I decided to repurpose some old wire to create figures. Wire is also easy to bend so I could show the idea of collapsing into a ball. Overall I believe it was really successful. This can be recreated with non-malleable house hold objects as well. Changing the positions of the objects can convey the idea of different moods, or even paintings them different colors.
I then downloaded Stop Motion Studio for the iPad and took photos as I moved my objects, making sure the onion skin option was on. It's not perfect, however, because my shapes kept falling and had to be picked up and resent. If I had more time, I would've made shapes with a studier bottom.
Step 1: Idea and choosing materials Step 2: Creating shapes
Step 3: Pose shapes Step 4: Take photos
