(9.2) Sounds in General

Life
When it comes to Sounds in my life, I take my hearing for granted. I never had to think about sound not being apart of my life. For the most part, I block out those sounds by using music. The Sound project was the first time in my lik 1 had to actively reflect on sound and how we use and interpret them. As I'm writing this, I'm becoming more and more aware of what I hear. People laughing and having fun. The sound of my pen touching my iPad. The sound of someone typing.
It's a wonder we don't all have sensory overload. That just goes to show you how amazing the human
brain is.

Art and Curriculum
When it comes to sound in the arts, I think it is an underused art form. When sound is used its
usually in the service of video and other mediums. Recently I've been reflecting on DreamHouse, a sound andlight installation in Manhattan. It is a full room immersive installation that plays with the viewers sight and hearing, either overwhelming them or providing a sense of tranquility. I think this would also be a good project for students because they can explore these mediums in their own right in addition to other mediums. It doesn't just have to be in the service of video or movies:
